Triggering SOS
The red SOS tab is at the bottom of every screen. To use it:
- Press and hold, then follow the on-screen prompts.
- Use the emergency calling option when you need emergency services. Follow your phone's calling prompts; do not assume an app alert placed a call.
- BRYKK attempts to share a family alert and the location information available to it. Check the location's update time and accuracy.
- Recipients may see a notification and an SOS indication in BRYKK. Delivery and sound depend on connectivity, permissions, and device settings.
Impact detection
Impact detection uses supported on-device motion signals. If BRYKK detects a possible impact, follow its on-screen check-in and countdown:
- Respond to the βAre you OK?β prompt if you can.
- If there was no emergency, use the cancellation option before the countdown ends.
- If the countdown ends without a response, BRYKK attempts to notify your family.
A collision alert needs real driving speed.BRYKK only alerts when the phone was moving at about 15 mph or more just before the hit, from a recent speed reading. Dropping your phone in a parked car, or tossing it on a seat in a parking lot, won't set it off.
Motion detection and family alert delivery are separate. Detection can miss incidents or produce false alarms; sharing the alert needs a working connection and device support.
Emergency phrases abroad
If your phone is in a country that speaks a different language, your SOS screen and the possible-collision check-in show an Emergency phrasesbutton. Tap a phrase, like βCall an ambulanceβ, to show it in large text and have your iPhone say it out loud to someone nearby. Medical phrases use your medical card. Emergency phrases are free for everyone.
Safety Plan β for the family member receiving the alert
When you get an SOS or impact alert, tap the notification to open BRYKK directly to the affected family member's detail view. You'll see:
- Their available shared location and its update time
- Nearest police, fire, hospital, urgent care, gas station, auto repair β all real businesses found via Apple Maps near THEIR coordinates, not yours
- One-tap navigate to any of those places from YOUR current location (so you can drive to them) or to send them step-by-step directions from THEIR location
- Country-specific emergency number (911 in US, 112 in Europe, 999 in UK, etc.)
False alarms
False impact alerts can happen. Use the check-in prompt or cancellation control shown in BRYKK. If an alert already reached your family, contact them to explain; a cancellation update may also be delayed.
What family members see
An active SOS takes over the whole Family page: where they are in words, how accurate and fresh that is, Call, Navigate, βI'm on my wayβ and Call 911. A possible collision uses the same card. Notifications can be missed, delayed, silenced, or unavailable. Time Sensitive and Critical Alerts are different iOS capabilities; a Time Sensitive notification does not guarantee that silent mode or Focus will be bypassed.
